Answer the freaking phone!!

Chris eventually stood up and grabbed the phone, making sure not to get any blood on it.

"Hello?" he asked.

"Hey..." He recognized the voice as Jonny's... but how did he get Chris's number? "Listen, I've been thinking, and... well, would it be all right if I come over?"

"Yeah, sure," Chris breathlessly replied. "Drop by whenever you like."

"Cool. My shift ends soon, so I'll be there in, like, ten minutes. Bye."

"Bye," Chris mindlessly mimicked. He hung up the phone and set it back on the charger, stunned.

Then he collapsed onto his couch and just stared into space. Was it really possible for a piece of paper to change his fate like that? Was Jonny really coming over to talk to him?

Chris looked down and realized that he should probably put a bandaid on his finger. He stood up to walk to the bathroom, but he started to feel dizzy. The room was spinning and blurring and before he knew it, everything went black.

--

When he opened his eyes again, all he could see was Jonny hovering over him.

"Oh, good, you're awake."

"I... passed out..." Chris said. "Everything started spinning..."

"Do you need anything?" Jonny asked. "Like, water or something?"

"Water would be nice," Chris replied. "There are cups in the strainer, tap water is fine."

Jonny nodded and ran into the other room. Chris tried to sit up, and he managed to successfully do so with relative ease. He felt much better than he had before, but he decided not to move any further. He looked down at his hand to see the state of his finger, and was shocked to find that it was completely healed.

Jonny came back in a minute carrying a large cup of water. He handed it to Chris then sat down beside him.

"So yeah," Jonny began out of nowhere, "maybe it wouldn't be so weird... you know, us... maybe."

Chris looked up at him. "W-we could try... and see how it works."

Jonny smiled and slowly reached out for Chris's free hand. He laced their fingers together and sighed.

"Yeah, I guess it's not so bad."

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
